Democracy is Fun...

Sarah Palin mentioning "fact checkers" while criticizing the President is a sadly funny thing.

Other State of the Union thoughts:

1. He was right to give the Supreme Court a very cordial "Fuck You" for overturning some of the limitations on corporate contributions to political campaigns. This in no way threatens the separation of power in the government. To suggest it does is equivalent to suggesting that every time a congressman criticizes the President (every single day) it threatens the power of the presidency. Sorry, fuck off. He's not infringing on their power, he's voicing his opinion that they missed on this one.

2. The governor of Virginia's campaign speech was dull. It wasn't a response to the State of the Union speech, it was a vague, uninteresting introduction to a guy who will likely be running for the republican nomination in 2012. I would have preferred someone with something interesting to say or any actual ideas that were in opposition to the President.

3. I want someone to blast Hannity in the face with a sledge hammer. I dislike the far left tv people as well (though Olberman's irrational hostility amuses me, mostly because I still appreciate him from his ESPN days), but I just can't ignore my desire for him to suffer severe physical harm. I dislike the fat asshole (Rush) and the bald asshole (O'Reilly), too, but they're more cartoonish and difficult to take seriously. They don't ever STOP being unlikable pricks, so it's never entirely irritating. Hannity, on the other hand, has very rare moments when he seems like a rational, compassionate person...and then the other 92% of the time he's an idiotic fuck who just makes random shit up, and I want to stab him through the eye.

4. The election of a senator in Massachusetts is NOT an indication of the feelings of the rest of the country. 2 reasons for that:
First, Massachusetts hasn't been dominated by democrats for 50 years, it's been dominated by Kennedy's for 50 years. There's a difference.
Second, Massachusetts voters are idiots. Thousands (at least) of assholes voted solely on the basis that the democratic candidate accused Curt Schilling (who publicly endorsed Scott Brown) of being a Yankees fan. Yeah, the drunken assholes at Red Sox games who inexplicably associate the song Sweet Caroline with baseball were likely largely responsible for electing a senator because of their irrational love of one of their world series heroes.

5. Seriously, Sarah Palin? The entire basis of her presence on the national political scene is "women are stupid." I really hope that's not true, and I'd really like to see her eliminated from the conversation long before the next election.

Go Democracy!
